Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence based approach that has been proven highly effective with individuals that are struggling with a variety of mental health issues. This approach basically assists the client in increasing self awareness to get to the root of negative self talk and distorted beliefs that negatively impact overall mental health. Then the client is better equipped to make positive changes through goal setting and cognitive restructuring.

Mindfulness Based

Mindfulness Based

With the hectic pace of today’s society, it is easy to spend most of the day in a mindless space, attending to one task after another on a sort of auto pilot mode. I draw from my years as an educator, yoga teacher, and therapist to teach clients how to develop a consistent mindfulness practice, in an effort to be more present and less reactive toward stress that comes from the self and from others. When we are coming from a more mindful mindset, we are living life more fully and with less overall distress.

Self Care

Self Care

No matter what mental health concerns we bring to therapy, self care is a major part of the path to sustained mental health improvement. I work closely with clients to assist them in defining what self care means to them and how to prioritize it in their daily lives. Whether it is exercise, meditation, retreating into nature, journaling, creating art, etc., clients learn to carve out this time for a daily recharge of mind, body, and spirit.
